Madrid, Spain, November 22, 2007 – Next Limit Technologies is proud to announce the release of an update for our revolutionary rendering software: Maxwell Render version 1.6. Extensively tested, we are confident that this update will be well-received by Maxwell Render users around the world.
Version 1.6 – available today for existing customers – brings new features and improvements, including the much-anticipated Maxwell Displacement, instances, multithreading voxelization, enhanced plug-ins, network improvements and much, much more.
Maxwell Render 1.6 also includes a free pack of Dosch Design HDR images, exclusively for Maxwell Render license holders. This HDRI pack will be made available for download soon after the 1.6 release, and all customers will be notified by email.
To streamline the main software downloads, the Arroway Textures that were previously included in the installer have been moved to the customer download site. Any customer who uses these Arroway Textures simply has to download them separately and copy them to the Maxwell Render folder \materialsdatabase\textures\arroway.

...ist aber kein ganzes release (1.6f3 updated for C4D 9.6/10 for Win32/64 and OSX )...
Dear Maxwell Render customer,
Madrid , Spain , December 13, 2007
Next Limit Technologies has released a patch for the Maxwell Render version 1.6 engine (mxcl.exe), Maxwell Studio (mxst.exe) and the Material Editor (mxed.exe).
This patch fixes the most important issues with Maxwell Render 1.6 and is available for all the supported platforms.
We are pleased to announce the release of several updates for the following plug-ins:
Maxwell Render for LightWave - Version 1.6.6:
- Better native material (surface) translation.
- Added support for object clipmaps when using native surfaces.
- Swapped the "ISO" and "shutter speed" controls in the camera panel to match the order in MXCL.
- Fixed: a new problem which made objects with high polygon counts fail to update during an animation.
- Fixed: "front" projectors as well as projectors that used world-space coordinates.
- Fixed: objects with very small scale values no longer fail to export.
- Fixed: when exporting multiple cameras, all of them had the same resolution as the render camera instead of using their own settings.
- Fixed: the plug-in could not load material preview scenes created with Maxwell Studio 1.6.
- Fixed: wrong camera focal length in some material preview scenes.
- Fixed: some material preview scenes which used textures did not work if Maxwell Render was installed in a non-default directory.
- Fixed: using a global scale different than 1 resulted in wrong object positions.
Maxwell Render for 3DS MAX - Version 1.6.10:
- PFlow geometry instances are now exported as instances to Maxwell Render.
- Importing MXM files no longer changes the name of the material to fix problems with the File Linking system.
- Texture tiling and offsets are adjusted to compensate for the difference in tiling modes between 3dsMax and Maxwell Render (3dsMax has the tiling origin in the center of the image, Maxwell Render has it in the corner).
- Importing MXM files looks for missing textures in the same directory as the MXM file.
- Fixed: animated daylight system parameters did not update during an animation.
- Fixed: negative lens shift was not available when loading an old scene with cameras which had a correction modifier applied.
- Fixed: rendering material previews could fail if the preview scene had textures and Maxwell Render was installed to a non-default path.
- Fixed: making Maxwell Render the active renderer from MaxScript works now.
- Fixed: scenes saved with Maxwell Studio 1.6 could not be used for material previews.
- Fixed: texture UV channel is now correctly set when importing MXM files.
- Fixed: visibility property corrected. An object is visible when its visibility value is greater than 0.
- Fixed: polygonal diaphragm parameters will no longer be disabled when selecting and deselecting a camera.
- Changed camera blades range to match Maxwell Studio (3-96).
- Rendering from cameras with multipass effects is disabled, because 3dsMax tries to render the same picture several times, applying jitter between steps, and that does not make sense in Maxwell Render.
Maxwell Render for Maya - Version 1.6.6:
- The last directory used for the material browser is persistent between Maya sessions.
- The default directory for the material browser can be specified in the plug-in options.
- Additional MXCL flags are made available when rendering from the command line with mayabatch.
- The emitter MXI attribute uses Maya file texture nodes now, so tiling, offset and image sequences can be used.
- Emitter MXI textures can be previewed in the viewport by selecting "Emitter MXI" in the "Textured channel" drop-down.
- Fixed: some material preview scenes which used textures did not work if Maxwell Render was installed in a non-default directory.
- Fixed: wrong camera focal length in some preview scenes.
- Fixed: the plug-in could not load material preview scenes created with Maxwell Studio 1.6.
- Fixed: error message about Hypershade when rendering from the command line.
- Fixed: OSX: preview swatches are no longer tinted red.
- Fixed: OSX: the plug-in correctly locates the Maxwell Render installation directory so the material browser and material previews work again.
- Fixed a number of errors which showed up when using namespaces (i.e. when objects had colons in their names).
Maxwell Render for XSi - Version 1.6.5:
- Added support for particle instancers.
Next Limit Technologies is pleased to announce the release of a Maxwell Render plug-in for Maya for Linux . The plug-in for Maxwell 1.6.6 and is compatible with versions 8, 8.5 and 2008 of Maya.
